Optimizing Amazon Vendor Agreements and Pricing
Transcription
One of the first items of business. Once you have a vendor central account with Amazon is their standard agreements. The initial agreements, you will unfortunately have very little say over if any, the only agreement which can possibly be negotiated upfront with your buyer would be the settlement terms.
show moreAmazon ideally would like 60 days net from date of invoice in which to pay you, but you can opt for settlement discounts for 30 days. Instead, if you believe you have the margin to allow this additional deduction from your account, all of your standard agreements are normally deducted per month off the net receipts that Amazon receives each month at the cost you set them to pay for your product.
That is Amazon’s cost of good. There are occasions where these deductions can be off of invoices instead of monthly remittances. These are normally agreed to upfront between yourself as the vendor and Amazon through your buyer. All of your initial agreements will be communicated to you via email first. Once you are happy with the terms, these will be generated on vendor central, where you will need to accept them.
You can find these agreements on vendor central by going to the settings tab. On the top menu of your vendor, central dashboard and selecting agreements. Any agreements waiting to be accepted by you will be beneath the pending tab. All agreements that have already been accepted will be under the accepted or rejected tab.
Under this latter tab, you will also be able to download the complete terms and conditions of trade with Amazon. Further down, you will see two additional tabs co-op for agreements related to your basic accrual damage allowance, freight allowance, promotions, etc, and purchasing terms, which relate to your settlement discounts or payment terms, your freight options and your returns options by clicking on each individual agreement, you will also be able to print it to keep a hard copy on file or for presentation purposes.
It is important to understand that when you enter into agreements with Amazon, it means that you are selling your product as a wholesaler to Amazon who becomes the distributor of your product. This also means that Amazon becomes the legal owner of the product. They order from you through the terms and conditions of trade with them and their agreements with you is the vendor.
It goes without saying that. As Amazon is the largest online retailer in the world. When you enter into a vendor agreement with Amazon, you end up benefiting from their reach reputation, advanced analytics and premium services.
