show moreIn this course, we’ve gone through many targets that sellers must adhere to in order to remain in good standing with Amazon. Amazon does suspend accounts often, and once your account is suspended, it takes a lot of time to get back onto the seller platform and in good graces with Amazon. So how do you avoid account suspension?
Let’s review the most common causes for accounts to be suspended on Amazon. The first is failure to address intellectual property complaints. Intellectual property law covers the enforcement of patents, trademarks, trade dress, and copyrights. Usually when the owner of the rights or the brand that holds the respective patent, trademark or copyright makes a claim of infringement against an Amazon.
Amazon first notifies the seller of the complaint. Amazon will remove the infringed listing and instruct the seller to work out the complaint with the rights owner. It’s not recommended to ignore these notifications even if you no longer plan on selling the item. Multiple intellectual property complaints will ultimately cause Amazon’s seller account suspension.
The second is operating multiple Amazon accounts. This is one of Amazon’s most strictly enforced policies. It is prohibited to operate multiple seller accounts without Amazon’s prior approval. If you have a legitimate business need, you must follow procedure and seek permission from Amazon prior to opening up the second account.
Amazon monitors for linked accounts and often catches sellers violating this policy by associating accounts using the same IP address, banking information, email, tax id, or a physical address. The third is selling restricted products. Amazon restricts the sale of certain type of products and updates this policy frequently.
If you have received a performance notification relating to the sale of a prohibited product, it is suggested that you remove the items from your listings. Focus on developing a detailed plan of action to remove the restricted products and how you will prevent this issue going forward. The fourth is receiving too many complaints about inauthentic or counterfeit products.
Inauthentic complaints are very common and oftentimes are just unhappy buyers. But Amazon does take these complaints very seriously, and office suspends seller accounts with one or more claims made against them. If you receive a complaint, you must be proactive and respond to it immediately and try to resolve it as quickly as possible and follow the action steps necessary to get your account and your reputation back in good standing.
