A ready to ship package and chargeback means that you sent Amazon products greater than 18 inches by 14 inches by eight inches or greater than 20 pounds that have not been certified by Amazons frustration free packaging program. This chargeback is now also known as frustration free packaging or ships in own container chargeback.

To prevent this chargeback all ASINs that meet the following criteria must be certified through Amazon’s frustration free packaging certification programs as ready to ship. Tier one is frustration free packaging or tier two is ships in own container.
The criteria is as follows, packaged dimensions greater than 18 inches by 14 inches by eight inches. Any packaged item with its longest side, more than 18 inches or its shortest side more than eight. Or its media inside more than 14 inches and any ASINs greater than 20 pounds. The categories that are excluded from this requirement are as follows ASINs that have any hazmat classifications, for example, ASINs that include lithium ion batteries and ASINs in prime pantry or Amazon fresh.

As of May, 2019. This chargeback became renamed as frustration, free packaging or ships and own container. Also referred to as ships and own container. The chargeback amount remains 1 US dollar 99 cents and the package dimensions and weights of the products that must be certified through Amazon’s frustration free packaging certification programs as ready to ship.

A grace period was given up until 30 September, 2019 for vendors to get their product certified through the below process. Step one, review and confirm which packaging type your ASINs fall into. By reviewing the ISTA frustration, free packaging, SIOC requirements on the ISTA website.
Step two, ensure that the packaging should withstand the tests and the ISTA frustration, free packaging SIOC requirements document that your type product will undergo.
Step three, check the primary and secondary ASINs document from the ISTA website. To ensure you only need to send one of the ASINs for each packaging type to be tested.
Step three, locate a lab near you through the ISTA website and contact them for costs and procedures to ship your products to them for testing.
Step four, receive a successful ster six test report for your products as completed by the lab.
Step five, complete the vendor enrollment template and ISTA six, open a case in vendor central and submit both the ISTA six test report and the enrollment form with relevant ASINs affected.
